The Kollectionisit has been developing the idea of collectable NFT “kat kards” for a long time as a side project. And the process has been as much fun as it’s been hard work. But as enjoyable as creating art is, it’s not enough. There needs to be something more fulfilling in all this effort.
What made me take a long hiatus from my long-term career was the sense of a lack of fulfillment, of feeling that what I was doing was improving the world in even a small way. Switching from an unrewarding career to digital art was a big step in the right direction, but I still didn’t see how I was making any real difference through it.
As I kept working on developing my original art, the memories of the “boys”—the two cats we adopted as rescue kittens so long ago—kept coming back. How much less rewarding my family’s life would have been if we hadn’t gone to the rescue display that day. Those two little kittens captured our attention and our hearts, and quickly because our first children. A test run before the human kids came along.
What would’ve happened to them if we hadn’t adopted them? There are so many cats in need of a loving home, waiting for the right person to find them in shelters around the country and the globe.
That’s when I realized that The Kollectionist can do a small part in helping raise awareness and bring sorely needed funds to those non-profit cat rescue organizations that are in dire need of funds to keep operating. How? The Kollectionist pledges to donate 10% of all Kommander Kat sales to charity—and you, the purchasers and owners of Kommander Kat cards will be the ones to decide which organizations receive the funds!
I’ve created a separate page on this web site that provides more details about this donation effort. Please read through it, and do what you can to help spread awareness. The more people we can get involved, the more funds we can donate to these groups who need dollars to help cats in need.
