Even though I’ve worked in the high-tech industry, I admit the concept of non-fungable tokens (NFTs) is pretty new to me–but the idea of creating digital art that you can sell as NFTs struck me as both a bit daunting and also really exciting at the same time.

Why’s that? For me, it’s about being able to do something unique with all the photographs I’ve taken over the years. I started in photography back in the Ice Age–initially with a 126mm Instamatic camera as a kid, then a huge step up to 35mm film SLR in high school.

But the advent of digital photography brings a huge new universe of possibilities to convert a single image–as good as it is–into countless interesting variations. Next, bring on the concept of NFTs, and you now have a means to authenticate and track ownership.

Finally, the rise of digital marketplaces such as OpenSea make it relatively easy for artists to find a way to reach an audience of potentially interested parties who want to invest in digital art.

So there you have it: digital photography + curated artwork + NFTs = a great beginning of possibilities. I hope we’ll all enjoy the ride!
